Cannot connect to the Internet

Asked by mrgfranklin

Hello All,

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to connect to the internet. I am new to Ubuntu. I have installed Ubuntu 7.10 on a desktop computer that uses a wireless USB adapter, model AWLL5026. I ran Ubuntu using the LiveCD and the internet seemed to work but after installation it worked no more. I have read through various forums none of which has resolved my issue. Please assist me.

Hi marcobra,

I followed the guide. It does not appear I have a driver loaded when looking at the configuration line. I do see *-network:1 DISABLED. The guide does not appear to mention how to enable this, is there a command or setting I need to set?

Actually the guide mentions it

[QUOTE]
Newer laptops come with features to disable the wireless radio to save battery when not in use. Usually this is switched by a FN+Fx key combo or specific button for the purpose. It is possible driver and everything is ok but the wireless device is in the disabled state and can't be used. Using the designated key(s) in linux sometimes does not work.

Thank you both. I finally had a chance to sit down on through all of the documentation. I had to blacklist the rt2500usb module and restart
