Ubuntu 7.10 delays about a minute (or more) before it gives me the shut down options.

Asked by Darina

Not a major problem but when i click on the button to turn off my computer it takes a minute or more until the options shut down, restart etc. appear. It happens only sometimes. When it doesn't delay it shows me also the options hibernate and stand-by. It is a bit annoying because this issue appears on my notebook as well and in most cases i have to turn it off fast. Any idea what process or daemon can cause it? Or what?

System is Ubuntu 7.10, fully updated.

Hello,

This might be a bug. Do you use any kind of 3d-desktop-features?
A way to shutdown your PC more quickly might be to switch to a terminal (for example using ctrl + alt + f1 or by using the terminal given in the applications-menu), log in and enter "sudo shutdown -h now".

Greetings
