Can see my wireless network, but not connect

Asked by Sean Kelley

I can see my wireless network (and several others) but I cant connect to it. I can connect directly to the router by using an Ethernet cable but not over wireless. When I try to connect it asks me for a passphrase, I enter it, the icon spins like its trying to connect, then the window comes back up asking for the passphrase again.
My neighbor has an unsecured wireless network and I cant connect to that either. I click on it to connect, the icon on the top bar spins, and then nothing happens.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Sean

Hey, thanks for offering to help but got it working. I was changing my wireless encryption from WEP to WPA2 Personal for another reason and decided to see if I could connect and now I can.

On another note, when my laptop is booting up the screen stays black for almost 5 minutes before I get the Ubuntu log on screen. Is there any way to fix this?
