Removing the logout/shutdown icon from the gnome session flashback panel

Asked by Steven D. Shown

Being no fan of the Unity interface in 14.04 I installed the gnome session flashback in order to get the old gnome 2 look and feel back. The problem is I no longer need the logout/shutdown menu icon in the top panel since those controls are included in the main gnome menu as well. I can eliminate it by removing the indicator applet complete from the panel, but doing that also eliminates the network control icon, the volume control, and the battery indicator as well. These items cannot be returned to the panel without re-adding the indicator applet complete, which also returns the icon I'm trying to get rid of. Is there any way to remove this icon without losing all the other indicators which I do need?

I figured out the solution to this problem on my own. I have since discovered the panel applets are in the software center...kind of hard to find, but there none the less. Hopefully anybody else that has had this issue when installing the gnome flashback session will find this information useful.
