Hello

I m on ubuntu studio gutsy.. I've noticed trouble with drive mounting and settings retention doing that -
The only full fix I've found is logging out / logging back in... And now its confirmed that Its universal.. :)

Just for info try this:

1.add two lines in file /etc/network/interfaces: (In a terminal sudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces)
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

and commenting out all entries with IPv6

then type

sudo ifup lo on terminal

and reboot linux box

2. Go in the sound preferences and disable ESD

Have a try

Bhavani Shankar.

I have similar problem and I have tried recommendations in error report 6482, 25481, and http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3918366&postcount=8
to no avail. The last one gets me another Gnome popup that says that my session has not been active to 10 seconds and then the desktop is in a loop, giving the popup. When I uncomment the change recommended by http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3918366&postcount=8 y get the "There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon ..." error. This condition persists unless I do http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3918366&postcount=8 which gets the 10 second popup

this error seems to be related to ifconfig. I've just tackled it by enabling roaming mode and it did work!
(My os:ubuntu 8.04)
