update package crashed 12.10
Asked by

12.10 ran smoothly for a few months on my 486 processor, today I decided to update the 500 updates available, after the update the system started to install the changes, unfortunately something happend and the system crashed. I rebooted the cpu, and logged in as usual, the previous desktop background was still there but all the files and menubars has desipeared. I discovered, while the machine is booting, I'll press shift and F1 wherafter the machine goes into the safemode options. What do I do now?
