How can I install Ubuntu without a keyboard or monitor directly attached?

I'd like to set up a pair of Ubuntu servers, taken from a Gentoo cluster. In order to avoid hauling them out or hauling a monitor and keyboard into the cluster, is there a way to run the debian-installer over ssh or a serial console?
