How do I install a Canon MG5550 printer on Ubuntu?
Hi
I've just had to replace my printer - I now have a Canon MG5550 inkjet printer. I run Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I have downloaded drivers into my Download file but am stuck. What do I do next? Sorry but I am one of the new breed of ignorant Linux users who has come from the IBM world and who struggles a lot - it originally took me two days to find out you use Alt Control T to get to the cursor in the terminal. It also took me several hourse to somehow istall my previous printer and I still don't know how I managed it!! Is there anyone who can spell out the commands for what I do next please?
I have the following files now in my downloads folder but what do I do next please step-by-step?
/home/john/
/home/john/
I unpacked these by right clicking on them.
Next I double clicked on the right deb file hoping to install it
But then my system Update Manager gave the following error message: "Dependency is not satisfiable...."
and also "This IJ Printer Driver provides printing functions for Canon inkjet printers operating under the CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) environment.
So I'm totally stuck.
Many Thanks
John
