installing Dell Factory installed Ubuntu

Asked by hardik panchal

recently I purchased Dell laptop, which has one FAT32 partition named OS having Ubuntu 12.04 package( having dell driver packages also), on first startup this package installs Ubuntu in laptop
 but I had format Hard disk to install windows 8.1 now i want to install same Ubuntu package alongside with windows.
I have copied Dell original Ubuntu OS installation package.

what had i Done
I create bootable USB and copied that Ubuntu package but unable t0 boot from it.
I can install this package by creating new FAT32 partition and booting from it(case when no OS in System) but after installing windows there is no method to install new OS(Ubuntu) from hard disk.

If you want a Windows+Ubuntu double boot system and you feel unsure about repartitioning your hard disk, the easiest choice for you is WUBI.
Wubi allows you to install Ubuntu from a Windows environment: if something goes wrong or you don't want Ubuntu anymore, you can uninstall Ubuntu completely from the Windows Control Panel just like another Windows program.
This is the link with installing instructions:

Thanks for responding to my problem.
but first WUBI is not supported by Windows 8.1,
and second that I want to specifically install Ubuntu package that come with dell laptop.
here is content in that dell Ubuntu package
-->Files
boot.catalog
prepackage.dell

-->folders
 .disk
.oem
boot
casper
debs
dists
efi
factory
install
pool
preseed
scripts

Hi,
at this point (if bootable USB is not successful), what comes to my mind is to burn Dell's Ubuntu into a DVD and boot from it (set boot order in BIOS).
To be honest, I have no experience with Windows 8.1, but the trick for dual-boot with earlier windows versions was to install first GNU/Linux and *then* Windows (without formatting)

Can you help with this problem?
