CAN NOT install software on ubuntu 7.10

TRYING to install software for a usb pen/wifi receiver... which comes with a grz "zipped file" for linux... I try EVERY thing... I'm new to ubuntu... first try at installing... visited http://www.monkeyblog.org/ubuntu/installing/#installing_with_synaptic ...tried ALL options; problem seems to be that whereever I paste the folder (zipped or unzipped)... or leave it on a cd...zipped or unzipped... IT WILL NOT FIND IT....this system is such complete crap//// please help me. I wrote code on the terminal.even; WILL NOT DO IT....crap crap crap...show me otherwise....

You have the source and you must extract it and install it on ubuntu

Just visited the 2 links... psychocats....been there, done that... DID NOT WORK...any of the approaches. AS to the other; I have at least successfully unzipped the file; tried all approaches on zipped and unzipped; tried humming while doing it; tried begging the great god of ub... no luck ...fed up ....but not quite to snapping the ubuntu disk in half...just yet....HELP ME!
