How do I re-create a windows 7 desktop (factory installed prog) in Ubuntu?

Asked by Jennifer

I own an HP Pavilion g7 1365dx notebook PC. The computer is literally only 14 months old. After six months, it was already having MAJOR MEMORY ISSUES. Even when I resorted to drastic measures, i.e., restored to factory settings, it still crashed and burned. A friend who lives next door brought over a USB flash drive with Ubuntu 12.04 installed on it. Eureka!! My computer is working (kinda) again! The only problem(s) are it cannot find the UUID /temp drive, nor do I have a clue how to use Ubuntu in any way other than the simplest, most uncomplicated for this windows user. Please, can anyone tell me in very elementary style, how to install a windows desktop in unison with my newly installed Ubuntu Program? I am CLUELESS!!

How can something be figuratively 14 months old? Why the 'literally'? It's pretty redundant.

If you want to dual boot then you can install Windows but only use a portion of the available space. Leave space unpartitioned. You can then install Ubuntu to the freed space and the dual boot will be handled for you.

Can you help with this problem?
