Subtitle Composer in repository is outdated

The development of Subtitle Composer has moved here: https://github.com/maxrd2/subtitlecomposer
Ubuntu repositories still contain 0.5.3 which is several years old.
Should I file a bug request or contact the package maintainer?

Well, Ubuntu packages are not updated just because there is a new version released. If there are packages with more severe issues which need addressing then they will be prioritized over something which is just new with little or no gain.

If the gains are significant and you report a bug it may get updated sooner, but Ubuntu is not a rolling release so packages will get old. They will more than likely do the job but lots of people think newer is better, which isn't the case a lot of the time.
