Sound altering output to HDMI /Display port at boot pc
Hello,
On my Mac mini with LG monitor (in Ubuntu Gnome 13.10, dual-boot with OSX), connected via HDMi cable, I notice that at boottime, after login, the sound output option is switched / altered to ' HDMi / Displayport 3 - Built in audio' while having selected the option 'Headphones - Built in Audio' (for my external speakerset) during last session myself!
Is this something which is 'known'?
I've looked in the answers; loads of stuff about HDMi and sound output but could not find any similar problem really....
Switching it back to the right 'output' gives me sound again!
Please advise!

You should have ran it as one command as that is what it is:

You botched the command I ran so the file did not get changed. Copy the command as ONE BIG COMMAND.
It may span 2 lines in your browser but copy it as one big command and run it.

Like I answered you in my mail back to you:
In terminal I ran the complete command WITH and WITHOUT space between your first AND your second line and I rebooted;
no change; still HDMi selected...
I told you before; I'm not doing anything with 'alsa' as I use 'pulse-audio' ......

Pulse is a layer on top of Alsa. You can use Alsa without Pulse and how sound worked for years but Pulse NEEDS Alsa to work. You cannot use Pulse on its own.
As long commands are proving tricky lets break it down. Run:
gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.
Add the line:
options snd-hda-intel model=imac24
Save the new file and close gedit. Reboot to test.

This IS still a problem for me...
When I log out of Ubuntu, and login to Gnome or Cinnamon; same thing; have to switch output back to 'headphones' for my external speakers..
