"BOOTMGR is missing" repair

Asked by Rick Miller

My laptop says "BOOTMGR is missing" almost immediately upon start and that's as far as I can go with it. I need to rebuild/repair the MBR. I've done a LOT of research on various methods-programs. Most, if not all, have me using MSWINDOWS software. Let me make this clear "I DON'T DO WINDOWS"! I have been investigating the Ubuntu/Linux MBR recovery program/tool. I would like to use it via a pendrive, if possible, and IF I can figure out how to 'open/boot" it. (Laptop is HP 2000) Now, here's where it get's tricky. I could not 'boot" from either USB pendrive (w/Ubuntu O.S.) or CD (w/Ubuntu O.S.) and the internal HDD has no O.S (was going to use either pendrive or CD to "install") What must be done to get the laptop to open/read/boot CD or pendrive so I can execute a MBR repair? Would it be best to "install" desired O.S. on HDD and if I did, would it "boot"? Or, is there a 'recovery/rebuild tool/download that I can get that will 'open/read/boot" from any of the devices regardless of the "BOOTMGR is missing" report?? If you could help out or if you need further information, please contact me. I'm sure it's a simple "fix", I just don't know what that "fix" may be!!
Thanx:
Rick

TO NikTk : (or any other wanna be "english" professors).

I DID NOT duplicate the questions here. Some dik has moved one of the "duplicates" over from Launchpad. To ALL the diks that do this sort of ignorance, leave you pecker pullin' paws off! You ARE NOT the ettique GOD: you are not an overseer of all Launchpad. What you are is an inconsiderate asswipe that had no pertinent information to offer anyone in need of any technical assistence, so this is your pathetic, immature way of trying to make people here think your are important. You really want to impress all of us here??? Then PLEASE take yourself out the the gene pool!!!!!

You can reinstate the bootloader using a bootable Ubuntu OS, or even the liveCD.

Can you help with this problem?
