Upgrading Kubuntu from 32 bit to 64 bit ?

Asked by AntiGravity

Hi , i am totally new to Linux while i have had 14 yrs of experience with dos, windows and mac. I have CORE 2 Duo processor T 7200. Yesterday by mistake I installed the 32 bit version of KUBUNTU while i wished to install the 64 bit verison as i am involved in high precision space application coding. So please can you tell me any way I can upgrade the current 32 bit kUbuntu to 64 bit KUBUNTU..? I was afraid that the boot camp might get corrupted or something like that would happen as I have windows to running on that machine with lots of softwares.

→ only new installation of Kubuntu (64bit)...

Maybe there is another way (I don't know any), but it will be more difficult than new installation...

Switching the Bit architecture after an install is not recommended... haveing tried my self.. it is really a pain and doing so will break all your current 32 bit packages.. and most of your settings.. <-- based on that their set up for a 32 bit program... you will lose some of your simbolic links as well. so I recommend that you reinstall with the 64Bit form scratch..

Can you help with this problem?
