unable to progress with updating to 13.04 after submission of cd when promted to insert the disc

After following the update procedure, the prompt requests me to insert the 13.04 cd which I've downloaded From this point the
procedure stalls although the rotating icon continues How do I resolve this problem ?

Hello,

you can open the Update Manager and click on "Settings" or open the Ubuntu Software Center[1] and click on Edit → Software Sources and goto "Other Software" Tab[2]. There, remove the entries with "Cdrom".

Alliteratively you can go to the first Tab "Ubuntu Software" and UN-tick the box with CDrom.
