No Sound Ubuntu 7.10

I have had no sound for 10 days now and I've tried this fix as mentioned here:

(https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/7629) Of installing this:
wget ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.14.tar.bz2.
But, had no success.

When I run lsusb this is what shows up:

This mourning I turn on my computer and realized, a weird sound coming from the CPU and later disappeared after 30 minutes of operation.

Please Help!

You have to audio cards installed on your system as you can see here:

00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)
02:02.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 04)

Try to get into you system's bios setup and disable one of them (probably the intel one) and see if this solve your problem.
