youtube-dl update provlem

hi, youtube-dl is not working in my laptop. when i used this "youtube-dl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxcGVT9-tMk " we get error as:

[youtube] Setting language
[youtube] AxcGVT9-tMk: Downloading video webpage
[youtube] AxcGVT9-tMk: Downloading video info webpage
ERROR: "token" parameter not in video info for unknown reason

 So now i tried to updtae it,but in updating we get error as:

$ sudo youtube-dl -U
Updating to latest version...

You can try to uninstall and re-install youtube-dl ,
OR
you can use another tool. A good one that I used and never had any problems is Movgrab (and support other sites as well)

You need to give youtube-dl a link from youtube, you don't just run it on it's own. Did you even read guides or the man page??

eg:

youtube-dl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tncGuuB8afg

Running youtube-dl on it's own does nothing....think about it

If you are intending to then rip the audio out of the video you can use the same http link in:
http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

And the site will do the work for you.

Youtube-dl says that Ubuntu is not keeping packages updated. Auto update (-U) does not work and Synaptic has old files. Has Ubuntu decided not to support youtube-dl?
