lm sensors stopped working after upgrade to Edgy

Asked by Magnus Sandin

Hello!

I Have an Asus M6Va Laptop and the GPU fan is making a lot of noise. So in Dapper I used LM Sensors to monitor the temperature of the GPU as well as lowering the fan speed.

However after I upgraded to Edgy, I get the following information when running sensors:
Can't access procfs/sysfs file
Unable to find i2c bus information;
For 2.6 kernels, make sure you have mounted sysfs and libsensors
was compiled with sysfs support!
For older kernels, make sure you have done 'modprobe i2c-proc'!

So I ran sensors-detect, which resulted in this:
 Sorry, no chips were detected.
Either your sensors are not supported, or they are
connected to an I2C bus adapter that we do not support.
 See doc/FAQ, doc/lm_sensors-FAQ.html, or
 http://www2.lm-sensors.nu/~lm78/cvs/lm_sensors2/doc/lm_sensors-FAQ.html
 (FAQ #4.24.3) for further information.
If you find out what chips are on your board, see
 http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/newdrivers.html for driver status.

I used to use the following modules in dapper which worked just fine:
i2c-i801
lm85
eeprom

I have these i2c- devices in /dev:

I'm seeing the same issue on two completely separate systems (IBM Thinkpad T30 and an HP Evo desktop). Everything was working perfectly under dapper, but sensors are not working after upgrade to edgy. All the devices, etc are there, and the hardware itself hasn't changed.

Can you help with this problem?
