Cannot connect to internet with wireless adapter TP-LINK TL-WN723N V2

Asked by Edmond Condillac

This request is further to the help in Question #230089. Since that time GRUB (version 1.99) shows the following kernels:

1) 3.2.0-48 - generic, which does not open & gives a blak screen with the Ubuntu logo and mouse cursor
2) 32.0-49 - generic, which is as bad as 3.2.0-48 above
3) 3.0.0-12 - generic ( on /dev/sda5) which opens but has unexpectedly stopped allowing wireless connection

I have run Boot-Repair from the live CD. Kindly advise if possible, please, how to resolve this problem. Thank you.

I rebooted and a dialogue box appeared asking for authentication of the wireless network security key, which I entered and seems to have been accepted. Then the screen has frozen with the Ubuntu classic wallpaper, but nothing else. Afert connecing to the ethernet, I;ll be able to send the required additional information.

Thank you once again for the help.

The restart at the end of the upgrade to 12.04 has not yet completed even after about 1 hour. Kindly advise how to restart the system without corrupting the upgrade as well.
