Recovering files from Ubuntu One

Asked by Margaret Mackintosh

I've been using Ubuntu One to back up my files in my home folder. Now I would like to access some of the files from last year but cannot seem to find a way to do this. So how do I recover files that I am paying Ubuntu to back up for me?

Paying ?
Ubuntu one is a Free and Open source application. Free as freedom and Free as a beer. If you are paying , I assume you paying for extra space. Yes, you must pay for extra space in Canonical's servers.

If you didn't delete your files from Ubuntu One server, then just open the Ubuntu one client (is pre-installed in Ubuntu unity) and let it synchronize the files. After finish, your will have access to your files. All files will downloaded to your PC.

Hi,

Yes, I am paying for more space. I am afraid that Beer is not Free. Thank you for the information. I added a back up file and so from the looks of things it is downloading to my computer. I just did not know how that worked. Thanks again.

No, this hasn't been solved yet. I did as NikTH suggested. I do now have a folder called "Recovery" or something like that. But, when I opened it, there is nothing. So what good is using Ubuntu One to back up my files if there is nothing backed up? Or seems like there isn't. I am not real literate on a computer so maybe there are ways to see any back up files that I don't know about. Any other suggestions?

That beer is free when 5GBs of space are used. If you want more, then you must pay.

Let the Ubuntu One client to synchronize . Is the synchronization finished? You must login with Ubuntu one account (SSO) in order for Ubuntu One client to work correctly.

I now have my old files, just not the ones I was hoping I would get. Thanks for all the information and help.
