Was it an upgrade in the Precise install, or did you wipe Precise off and reinstall with a clean install of Raring?
Thanks

Thanks

Hi,
Please first connect your wired network adapter to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (also known as a LAN cable).
In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure:
Step 1:
If you are using the Gnome interface, open the Terminal console via "Applications-
If you are using the Unity interface, the easiest way to open the Terminal is to use the 'search' function on the dash. Or you can click on the 'More Apps' button, click on the 'See more results' by the installed section, and find it in that list of applications. A third way, available after you click on the 'More Apps' button, is to go to the search bar, and see that the far right end of it says 'All Applications'. You then click on that, and you'll see the full list. Then you can go to Accessories > Terminal after that.
The methods in Unity are:
Press Control-ALT-T key combination.
Dash > Search for Terminal
Dash > More Apps > 'See More Results' > Terminal
Dash > More Apps > Accessories > Terminal
Step 2: Please copy-paste the following command from https:/
Tip: If you have a wheel mouse or 3 button mouse you do not need to type commands into the Terminal. Highlight the command written on the page. Move your cursor anywhere in the Terminal and press the wheel or middle button. Automatic Copy and paste! No spelling mistakes! No Typos! No other errors!
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install hwinfo grep rfkill; sudo lshw -C network; rfkill list; sudo iwlist scan | egrep -i 'chan|ssid'; cat /etc/network/
Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread. The troubleshooters here need to see the full Terminal output from running the above command.
Regards,
Mark

The following Terminal output shows that wireless is already active and it means that wireless is already turned on (on your PC):
$ sudo rfkill list

2: hp-bluetooth: Bluetooth

I suggest logging into the webpage of the wireless router and:
1) forcing the router to use Wireless-G speeds (54 Mb/s)
2) enabling SSID broadcasting
3) temporarily disabling encryption on the router for troubleshooting purposes
4) changing the SSID router name to a name without any spaces and without any special characters
Then reboot the router and retest wireless.
I have no further suggestions to make.

Same here on a Dell Precision M4800.
WiFi works just fine on 14.04 but the wireless switch is without function. It only turns off bluetooth, but not Wifi.
The BIOS gives me the option to control which hardware the wireless switch should turn on/off - and the option for WiFi is checked. However, it also says that on some OSes the driver may override the switch, which is what I assume happens here.
Any idea on how to turn this behaviour off in the intel drivers? On my last Precision notebook (M4600), the switch worked just fine and that one, too, had Intel WiFi hardware.
Can you help with this problem?
