Any ideas of why my laptop freezes when i play 3d games using ubnutu(desktop) but doesn't when i use ubuntu(studio)?

Asked by Dines683

I have posted some threads about my laptop freezing when i play 3d games on it.
I found that the solution was to install ubuntustudio instead.

Any ideas of why the studio version works and the desktop edition doesn't?

May be the different kernel... open a terminal on Ubuntu and Ubuntustudio and compare the result of:

uname -r

Hope this helps

This is my results

------
Desktop
2.6.22-14-generic

Studio
2.6.22-14-rt
------

I know that rt is short for "real time" but what is the main difference(s) between rt and generic??
