Adept gives a message that the packaging database is locked by another program.

Asked by dansmith57a

when trying to launch adept i get a notice that the packaging database is locked by another program.
I am unuaware of any other running program that would use this database. after reading support request #453, I ran sudu dpkg --configure -a.
this returned this message : "status database area is locked by another process".

Is this problem appears a long time after running your computer ? Try to launch adept atfer a while (~20 minutes) to see if it's doing that.

Use this command from konsole:
$ sudo fuser -vki /var/lib/dpkg/lock

This will ask you if you want to kill the process using the file.

Now you can run:
$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
to make sure all packages are fully installed.

Hello All.
Can anyone tell me why an Nvidia Geforce2 MMX will not operate properly under Edgy. The Hardware select shows it and I have a samsung 173S. I really just want to use the AGP for the speed it offers. All I get is raster lines of blue. Tried Vesa mode also. Pute iis i386 running at 800mhx with only 192mg, 40gig HD.

M/B is ASUS. Vid runs great using a different AGP card.

Any education will be very much appreciated,

Kirk
