code on screen

Asked by mr lee

my laptop starts, allows me to login etc... after about 2 minutes, i get a black screen full of (unintelligible) "code"...i've taken a pic of it from my webcam (unsure how to send/post it). Once i get this coded screen, it is impossible to do ANYTHING, except power off...also, if i try to use Update Mgr, it tells me "not all updates can be installed"...i attempt to run "partial" upgrade to no avail...
as usual, any help is greatly appreciated. Please try not to be too technical, i'm still kind of a newbie...thanks

If you upload to imageshack or similar, you can make a URL of the image and post it here as an update

Thanks

and so on............the numbers in brackets change each time this happens...i'm pretty sure the “messages” change as well, but have not paid close enough attention to that...
in order to get my wireless to work, I have to type in Terminal “sudo modprobe b43”...but do not know if this has anything to do w/what's wrong...

It looks like there are some problems with your wifi driver, can you check the output of dmesg, what error it is.

Can you give the information about your wifi.

Jason- not sure exactly what info you need...my son explained that when/if I want to connect to wi-fi,i have to put "sudo modprobe b43" in terminal. he said that "forces" a kernel(?) into the program/code line in order to connect...does that help? do u need info on on the type of modem?

yes, the type of wireless card.
b43? sounds familiar, are you using the Broadcom BCM43xx Wireless card.
