which Launch CD to use.

Asked by Mike Wynn

I want to install Ubuntu on a Mac iBook which is not on the net. I live in a camp site with a Wireless LAN that only likes microsoft. My idea is to download version 6.10 on my email machine, record to CD and then use the CD to install on the iBook.
Question. Do I download the Mac version ( as the destination machine ) or the Windows version ( as the receiving machine ). Help would be much appreciated.
Regards, Mike Wynn

You're installing to a mac, so the mac version is the one you download.

If your installing ubuntu on a imac or emac or anyother type of mac you need to download the mac/ppc ISO.

downloads! Regards, Mike

Mike,

The way these support tickets work is, a ticket is opened when the issue is reported and then, when it is resolved, it is marked closed to indicate that it has been successfully addressed.

So, when you submit a ticket and get a satisfactory answer you want to look at the box at the top of the page on the right, and click on the line marked status to close it.

Dear Josef, I am sorry but I cannot close this ticket. I have found the
box with status in it but it is completely dead and does not respond to
clicking. I have tried logging out and back in with no effect. I think
it is clear that I have received a satisfactory answer so I hope nobody
else spends time needlessly. If you have some way of closing perhaps you
can do it.
I am afraid I have been rather a long time responding to your request
but the wireless LAN here has been even worse than usual and I have not
been able to get a good internet connection for the last couple of days.
I hope it improves sometime soon so that I can make that download!
Regards and thanks, Mike

Were you logged in when trying to change the status?

Same deal. I retrieved the original reply, which was bookmarked. It
showed me as logged in ( this a week after I got the reply ) I logged
out and logged in, all of which went smoothly and looked normal. But the
box in the top right hand corner was still dead as a doornail. Sorry to
mess you about! Mike
