How to create a Dual-Boot From Linux > WinXP

Asked by SuprNova

Hi everyone that reads this xD

I Currently have Linux Ubuntu 7.10 on my computer which works like a charm for most part. Although, games are still annoying to install/play, this is why i want to create a dual-boot with my current Linux and with windows XP. Now for my question: How to do this? I have no idea where to start.

Can anyone give me some sort of guide for this?

thanks in advance, Matt.

Did you leave any space free during your initial install? If not, you'll need to use a tool like gparted to resize your partition to be smaller, and then boot from the windows XP cd and install in the free space. After installing XP, you'll need to use a LiveCD to repair grub (XP always installs its own bootloader without consideration to other OSs on the disk). This page in the community documentation should help: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RecoveringUbuntuAfterInstallingWindows
