After installing Flash Player via Synaptic in 7.10, can't get it to run

Asked by jackson

Hello all,

After installing the non-free Flash Plug In from Synaptic in Ubuntu 7.10, I still cannot get Flash videos to run on my IBM Thinkpad R61 laptop. When I go to a site that offers the "install plugin" logo, I click it, run the download, and it says "Non Free Flash Plugin already installed". It is installed, because I installed it, but it will not play Flash on sites requiring it.

I see a Linux tarball at the Flash site, but I don't understand why the version I installed via Synaptic in Ubuntu 7.10 will not work. I wiped Windows from the Thinkpad and installed Ubuntu, and everything works great, except I can't get Flash to run. Compiz was not enabled by default on this laptop, I'm running the standard desktop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks very much, I found this in the wiki and installed it, and now Flash works perfectly.

I really appreciate the follow up, sorry for the delay in responding, I've been out of town.
