How to get sound when running 2 applicatons or more at the same time

I can't get to run more that 1 app at the time with sound. I found a older question regarding the same thing ( https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+question/5419 )
But i run alsamixer and not oss. So i still need help..

I have a Dell M-90 Precision, so i should get it to work i assume.

Can anyone help, or do u need more information? sorry, but i'm a nooob trying my best :)

You can also use jack to be able to play with your audio in/out connections
here a video: http://www.ubuntuvideo.com/using_jack_in_ubuntu_studio

To view and install package related to jack, please open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo aptitude search jack

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

To install packages

sudo apt-get install jack
