how do I roll back an upgrade

Asked by Glenn M Dunn

I just upgraded to the latest version of Kubuntu. I'm not even sure what number it is.
I think I need to roll back since now my old klunker computer can't seem to handle this latest version. The mouse in particular is acting up and the sound system is acting like the CPU can't give it enough cycles. Also the system is now slooooooooow.

It worked fine before, I just thought it would be OK to upgrade.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Glenn

There is not a very clean way to downgrade your whole system. Things only can get messier when you replace the apt sources with the ones of the previous ubuntu version and do a dist-upgrade.

I suggest to backup all your important files and do a clean install, but first read up a bit on bugs and the ubuntuforums and see if your problem is a common one with a more subtle solution.

hi
I am a beginner and I just upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 now I get an out of range error on my login screen. My computer works fine and ubuntu comes up running because I use automatic log in I have checked my xlog and I don't understand it. The problem with this arangement is that it does not allow me to log off and come back in as root. I am having fits with this and have read a lot of blogs of people having similar problems. I don't understand the fixes at all.
thanks Karl
