This

is the easiest way. But keep in mind. Running windows software is a better workaround than a real solution...

You already have a web browser called Firefox located on the right of the System menu: http://www.ubuntu.com/files/GutsyImages/Applications-Menu.jpg (the icon with orange and blue).

If you still want Internet Explorer use this tutorial: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Gutsy#Install_Internet_Explorer_6_for_Wine

I tried to install ies4linux. I was successful in installing the two packages... Wine and the CAB installer.

The ies4linux tar file was extracted and the folder having the same name was opened on desktop. I ran the file ies4linux which gave me the screen for installation. Thereafter, it successfully downloaded all the Cab and other files.

However, when the files were downloaded during the instlaation, following message came and machine hanged.

Installing ie6...
initializing..
Creating Wine....

Thereafter, machine gets hanged and I have to manually restart the machine. It doesnt responds at All.

My Broadband Internet is running fine in Mozilla. But due to necessity of surfing IE-only sites, I want to and have to use Internet Explorer.

Kindly guide me. I have AMD Athlon XP, 640 MB Ram, 40 GB hard disk with more than 30 GB vacant.

Also a legal issue is there in using ies4linux. Is there any freeware or utility in stead as an alternative ?

I have started using Linux since last 10 days only but I have becaame a fan. I dont want to go back to the dreaded XP full of Viruses only due to IE_only sites.

Thank you
