curse of the cursor

Asked by k_chupe

i recently installed a cursor theme in the tar gz format by dragging it and dropping it in my custom settings of the theme tab of appearance. i have found another cursor theme, in the same format, that i'm trying to drag and drop, however, when i drag and drop it doesn't install it. i believe that this is partly because the new cursor theme has the same name as the older one. i try to delete the older one by clicking the delete button, but when i click it nothing happens. is there a way to get the older cursor theme deleted, like maybe through the terminal or some other way?

There's a way of erasing the old theme:

Open a terminal and type: gksu nautilus
Type password
Wait a few seconds
This opens Explorer files, from root, root, and as you are you can safely delete.

I hope you have been helpful

If this does not work, maybe the theme is being used

it's actually the pointer theme in the theme section of appearance. i don't know exactly where to locate the custom pointer/cursor themes so that i can delete it. would i go to file system>usr>share or what? i went to file system>usr>share>themes but only saw the default themes in there.

i have a pointer theme that i like already installed. i just wantee to delete the old one that i installed. i like the mac look and found a really nice cursor theme, then installed it. i guess it won't hurt to leave the old one installed. thanks
