installing programs on ubuntu

I am very new to Ubuntu and I am having a hard time working out how to install programs, Ok it's sad but I have been brain washed but Microsoft with the double cllck to install, I want to get ride of windows but I have much to learn. How do install things? drivers and programs

You have a lot of programs listed in Synaptic - just click System -> Administration -> Synaptic... and find program that you need.

The other way to install programs: find program that is in DEB doubleclick on it and click install.

NOTE that zou can not install everz windows programs in linux. For simple programs or some well known you can install them using WINE emulatr. You can find it in Synaptic.
