7.10 ISO error

Asked by purnateja

hi
I downloaded the 7.10 K/Ubuntu(both) ISOs. when I burned it and tried to run the live cd, it didnt get past the starting screen. even the kernel didnt load. I tried it on other machines also but the problem essentially lies with the erroneous ISO. I even tried the alternate cd ISO. but that also doesnt work when i try installing. The ISOs were downloaded using uTorrent. is it something with the torrent version of the ISO which is making things bad for me? Please suggest a way to get ahead. i badly want to install kubuntu 7.10 on to my box.

I've tried the .torrent download of Ubuntu 7.10, both i386 and amd64. Both of them could be installed without giving a problem so I think:
1) your burner doesn't burn too well
2) something bad has happened on the torrent network and there's someone spreading bad blocks. It can happen and, sometimes, happens
3) the media you're using have problems

I suggest you to download the iso image using http or ftp from one of the mirrors outside (there are many), the "big stop" of the servers should ending.
Hope it hepls

Check the image with the hash to make sure it has downloaded correctly. When you boot from the cd instead of loading the live cd, scroll down and tell it to check your CD.
