Ubuntu installation hangs due to heavy mirror traffic
Essentially, during the installation of Gutsy (redone from the beta and release candidates I was using before), the installation hanged for about 15 minutes during the "configuring apt" stage.
This is most likely due to heavy traffic on the mirror while other users attempted to do the same (probably thousands of other users). I would therefore suggest adding a step to the installation program (Ubiquity): selecting the best mirror.
Ubuntu, through Synaptic, offers a way to configure the software sources to be retrieved from the best mirror based on the user's location. By automatically selecting the best mirror for the user, this would alleviate stress on the main server and would improve installation (as well as future package management) for all users.
