Zip file stuff

Asked by Name Withheld

I am trying to open a large zip file that I just Torrented but it won't open, I am pretty sure that this was not an error though because I had the same sort of problem when I zipped the same set of files multiple times and tried to open it on another computer. I also know that it is not just a problem with the zipper in kubuntu because it does that in windows XP zipper (it asks for the last disk in the multi-volume set) or in 7zip.

I am extremely puzzled...........

Can you give the filename and can you also run:

file /path/to/filename

obviously change /path/to to the actual path and change filename to the actual filename

Thanks

I will try that but do you happen to know how to get the address bar in Kubuntu? I will just try the drag-file-into-Konsole-method

I found out the problem. FAT32 doesn't like large files.

The maximum filesize is 4Gb. Its one of the reasons Fat32 sucks. It is also weak and flimsy and sudden power-offs can cause data corruption.
