Closing Amarok causes external usb drive to unmount

I am using Ubuntu 7.10. When ever I close amarok, my external usb harddrive is unmounted. I've tried deleting the settings folder and it still does it even with a totally fresh settings folder.

I seemed to have found a solution to the problem, but I don't know why it works. I decided to write the mount for my external drive directly into fstab. Haven't experienced the problem since.
