Problems on installing Ubuntu on dell 1520 laptop

Hi.
I am trying to run the Ubuntu Live cd on a Dell 1520 laptop, but right after I choose to boot from the cd when the computer starts, I get an error message something like: unable to connect to "tty". What does this means and how I can pass through this and install Ubuntu on this laptop ?
I am a starter in Linux.

iam having DELL INSPIRION 1545 laptop with config.. intel core2duo T6400,2.2gh,3gb ram,wireless wifi etc.
but i m not able to install or ubuntu as well as any versions of unix OS. please try to solve my problem....thanks
