[Proposition] Bug Sweeper Task Force

Asked by Nanley Chery

Before I post this in Ubuntu forums, I want to come here for approval. I'm planning to gather a group of people from the Ubuntu forums whose experience levels vary from noob to 1337. I am going to ask them if they would like to remove the beta cruft that is on Launchpad. By this, I mean, the bugs which people have reported whilst testing beta releases that clog up the pipes. In order to solve this problem I will ask people to go to:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bugs?field.searchtext=Feisty+beta&orderby=datecreated&search=Search&field.status%3Alist=New&field.status%3Alist=Incomplete&field.status%3Alist=Confirmed&field.status%3Alist=Triaged&field.status%3Alist=In+Progress&field.status%3Alist=Fix+Committed&field.assignee=&field.bug_reporter=&field.omit_dupes=on&field.has_patch=&field.has_no_package=&start=75
(This will list all beta bugs from feisty in order from oldest to newest)

On this page volunteers will claim bugs xxxxxx through xxxxxx. After reading each bug, they will either:
1. Label the bug as incomplete and ask "Does this bug still exist in Feisty Final?"
2. Label the bug as invalid after seeing that the problem was a fault on the reporter's side.
3. Label the bug as fix released if the person reports their problem has been resolved.

The affect of this action will be: a massive flood of activity within Launchpad, a reduced volume of unneeded bugs, and a clearer focus for bugs that need to be addressed. Of course, those who volunteer to do this will be notified that they must check their launchpad or email to see if their bug has been responded too or not. I plan to repeat this for edgy and dapper ( and maybe gutsy). We may later be able to call on this "task force" for other simple tasks in the future.

If anyone can help this plan become a reality, one similar to the campaign Ubuntu did for joindiscussion.com (links in every forum), then please do carry this out, with or without my aid.
