dident load mouse pad in notebook 10.10

Asked by JEFF HEMEKE

my notebook dident load my mouse pad, the download log says--alps ps/2alps glide-point touch pad found adding input device. ,applying alps ps/2 glide point driver 1.2.2, no supported touch-pad found. alps ps/2 glide point no synaptics event found, prelmt failed, unload module:synaptics. so it loaded the driver then it dumped it. i can download the driver from Toshiba, i have a Toshiba a15-s157, on to a usb drive, but i wouldn't no how to load it. i also have another problem, i went to root to change my password and i typed passwd rocalotjeff, it asked me for my new password, it said changed successfully. then it asked me to log in and it said it was wrong. is there a certain way to log in? i have the desktop version and that works great. i would really like my laptop to work to,im new at this help PLEASE! thank you. jeff

If the touchpad doesn't work then log a bug. Maverick is beta, it's NOT ready and NOT stable. If you need an OS that works then install Lucid, if you want to help the project but do not mind an OS full of functionality holes and bugs, use Maverick.

Did you have capslock on at any point in the whole process. I suggest you reboot back to root recovery mode and type the password on the prompt to check what is being inputted is correct, ten set the password to something really simple like 123456, you can then log in and change the password there.
