can't boot from cd or usb

Asked by bruce15

I have a dell d410 netbook with ext cd rom drive- made an iso disk image bootable disk for ubuntu 10.04 . i set up the bios on my computer to only boot from the cd unit after burning the .iso image to a cd rom. immediately i get an error "non bootable device" strike f1 to retry"---i also made a bootable usb stick version and get same error. .i am able to use wubi to load through windows the same 10.04 netbook .iso file onto my netbook and it works --it seems that only the hard drive is bootable.--- could this be a bios issue on my dell d410??----

if i set the bios up in the same way to load the devices into another computer-a desktop i have--no problem-the other computer see's either the usb or the disk drive cd rom as bootable.
any ideas??

Two things are there:
1- dell d410 netbook, did you download the Netbook version of the ubuntu?
2-ISO file donot work, you have to extract and then burn it on the CD, Check carefully how to use iso file on Ubuntu.com

Can you help with this problem?
