Live CD works with browse network, Dapper clean install does not.

Asked by iamthewebguy

Live CD detects and works with current network (Other computers run windows).

After full install from live cd (dapper), can no longer browse the network using Places/Network Servers from the Places menu. (Network not shown, I get smblink-root instead.)

Works great using the Live CD, just not when using Dapper install system (on the same computer).

I can connect to individual shares using the Places/Connect to server dialog. But that is the only way.

I got the same issue here, not only with my local network but also with my scanner Canoscan Lide25, both are perfectly detected by the Live CD, I guess it might detect also my camera but I haven't tried yet (which cannot be detected by my dapper installation right now)
