Need repository in CD format.

Asked by Clemo

I need to add more software and utitlities to my Ubuntu Installation, that is not included in the Install CD. Thus im required to get them from repositories on the internet. But i do not have an easy access to the net. Is it possible to obtain a download ( ISO format ?) full of extra software that i can put on cd(s) ? Where would i get the software archive from ? This can be useful in that i would only need to install the extra needed packages from this cds.

Yes it could be great because I have a pc with no internet in it, so it would be good if cds with extra packages and why not update packages could be release.

Hrmm, you could simply archive a bunch of packages that you want into a CD, and just extract them after you get to your desktop?

Don't forget EasyUbuntu! :) http://easyubuntu.freecontrib.org/

Have you tried, a common package manager like Smart - http://labix.org/smart .
I can't garuntee if that would work, we are trying an approach of building a local install repository with this either on DVD or on a common server. This would help people with no or slower net connection.

You could buy the dvd - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000G62IDU/qid=1149842118/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-5094963-0625551?s=software&v=glance&n=229534 which presumably contains lots of extra software. Or you can download packages individually from http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/

I'm running Edgy and it works perfect.... But the Repositories are gone.....
What are my options.... Will they be available on cd, even for sale would
be better than not at all....?? Thanks for listening....... ;)

Can you help with this problem?
