High progessor Temperature

Asked by etienner

Hi I've installed Kubunu Dapper on my Acer TravelMate 4101, and unfortunately the processor temperature is always worrying. Even if I'm not running nothing special, the temperature reaches 70°C (or even more).
What can I do?

Perhaps your travelmate ventilator is not supported to be controled by the linux distribution .
Try to active it in your bios configuration .

I have do the same for a HP nx6125 .

Thank's for the reply, but I don't think that my ventilator is not supported. I checked the cpu temperature, because I realized that the fan was nearly always working...

Does the frequence scalling work on your computer ?

Because if i stop frequece scalling on mine dell inspiron 8600 CPU is at 65 degres .

And by default on window system frequence scalling work .

Try to add applet for processor in ubuntu deskbar .

The problem of the high temperature is also on my Dell 1555 studio. But i think it can be resolved by installing the correct videodriver. I discovered the problem by installing the 10.04.1 version (both ubuntu and kubuntu versions. When i installed 10.04.1 the temperature did not came lower than 70 degrees celcius. When installed de ATI video drivers the problem dissapeared.

Can you help with this problem?
