heating up on startup

Asked by -Mr.S-

i have an acer aspire 4730z and i just installed a dual boot of vista and ubuntu last week.
i have been using vista for 2 years and decided to switch to ubuntu because it seemed to be the most popular and easy to use lunix distro.
Now that i installed it, everytime i boot up in ubuntu, without touching anything, it says its using 30% of my processor!
the fan is on and its pretty loud from startup to shutdown/sleep, none stop!
open a couple(5) of tabs in chrome, gets up to 50% to 70%.
its getting annoying and if i open more tabs the computer gets laggy and reachs 100% cpu use.
ubuntu is awsome, if it wasnt for the heating up 5min after startup issue.
any help is appreciated
thanks

Acer systems are cheap use cheap heat management systems and can be a real pain to get nice.

I'd log a bug, you should also experiment with boot options and also make sure you have the latest BIOS

i was going to update my bios sometime this week, but i just did it and now on startup its under 3%.
with 10 chrome tabs on it maxes at 30%.
for moment there i thought i had to switch to vista again, phew!
