Can't Install ubuntu-server

Asked by Ted Gervais

I have downloaded and burnt three CD's right now for the latest ubuntu-server and I can't get them toinstall.

I followed the directions exactly as they were written to down and burn those CD's so I am sure that has been done right.
I am using ubuntu-desktop to burn those CD's which I had downloaded once before but want to start over with the server version.

The Desktop version wouldn't boot up but it was installed by simply clicking on an install file. Away it went. Well in the server CD's I can't find any such files to click on. I clicked on all of them and nothing happens.

So I am at a loss. What does one do if you want to install ubuntu-server and it won't boot from the CD and secondly it doesn't have an install file; something to get the installation to start.

You need to go into your BIOS/setup when your computer boots and change your boot order so it checks the CD before the hard drive.

You downloaded the server CD as a .iso file, right? It's good practice to check the md5sum to make sure it's not corrupt.

I went into my bios and confirmed that my boot order had to be changed. I did that and now the CD boots up perfectly.
This solves my problem.
Thanks to all who answered.
