Please help me...
I Bought Sony Vaio VPCEB1J8E/WI laptop with windows 7 Home premium (Italian OS). I am a beginner to Linux, but I wanted to have Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop. I made a big mistake of not keeping recovery disk for windows 7.
I tried to install using USB installer option with universal USB installer software. During the installation, I got the error "faulty CD/DVD drive". Since I was installing with USB, I did not understand how that happened. And the installation could not completed, but it corrupted the windows 7. Even though I kept separate partition for Linux, it corrupted the windows 7. With a foolish thought I continued to install Ubuntu from the beginning again. I used option " erase hard drive completely and install". It erased the hard drive but could not install Ubuntu, giving the same faulty CD/DVD drive error. I thought this might be due to faulty ISO image on the USB installer. Later I tried to install Ubuntu 7.with a authentic CD, but it showed start up screen, after that it showed blank screen. Even i tried with Linux mint, the start up message appears, but once I press Install Linux mint , blank screen appears, it remains blank.
Is it possible to recover windows 7 with any recovery software,? This just helps me to have warranty for my computer in any case.
I don't have any idea what happened with my laptop. Please help me....what can I do now ?
