Can I get 1280x1024 resolution in Ubuntu 10.04.

My graphics card are XFX GT240

under system - admin. -are the hardware drivers set up ? if you do, then you can go to system - admin. - nvidia x server settings and set the resolution you want .

The max resolution in my x server are 1360x768 but there is no 1280x1024

i can find all kinds of information on your card but not about resolutions . just may not be able to get just what you want with the screen size you have

No I used to use this resolution on ubuntu 9.04 and it's work fine but whit my old vga card XFX 7300 LE with the same monitor.

But in 10.04 it doesn't exist.

And I'm using 1280x1024 reslution on windows 7 with GT240 and it work fine

try changing drivers i am using the recommend one . for your card this setting may not have support written in 10.04 by nvidia

It's fully supported and I'm using the recommended driver.

yes your card is supported but i do not beleave the resolutions you want are supported .

That will be a big problem for me if I couldn't get this resolution.

This is really easy to sort. Run:

sudo nvidia-xconfig; gksudo nvidia-settings

Use the app to configure the display to any degree, make sure you set a resolution then click "Write to X config file".

You can now run:

gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

find the screen section and manually edit the resolution in the file. Save the new file and reboot. Should be fine.
