configuring network in textmode

Asked by RedMix

Hello!

I am fairly new to Ubuntu, but not to Linux in general.....and I am experiencing a few difficulties when I try to set up my network....
PS I don't have, and I don't want graphical interface.

I can't seem to find the correct command to start the net configuration utility, if one exists.

I would very much appreciate it, if someone could kickstart me :)

No problemo ! Please refer to the "interfaces" man page, by typing "man interfaces" in a command line on your computer. Your networking config is stored in the file /etc/network/interfaces that you could edit manually using vi or nano ("sudo vi /etc/network/interfaces" or "sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces"). There are some editors but I only know graphical ones.

Hope that it helps you.
