Why is Nautilus's "show advanced permissions" set to FALSE by default?

Asked by theadmin

Well, I think it gets a lot more confusing when you have to choose a permission set from a menu rather then setting all flags yourself. Any explanation of that?

It's more user friendly the current way. A typical user doesn't understand user/group/other and sticky/execute bits - that stuff is for advanced users only and therefore disabled by default.
